Review: The Iron Queen: Julie Kagawa

The Iron Queen: Julie Kagawa
The Iron Fey: 2
Synopsis: Goodreads
My name is Meghan Chase.
I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stand by my side. Drag me into the core of conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.
This time, there will be no turning back.
Cover:
I love this cover. My favorite color is red so I am very happy they chose this color for the series. I think it's also very representative of all the blood shed and battles in this book.
My Review:
What to say about the Iron Queen??? I really enjoyed it! Beware there are spoiler!
So to begin I have been pleasantly y surprised with Meghan at the beginning of this book. Its likes she revived herself as character.  I was so glad when she asked Ash to teach her how to fight. I mean HELLO its book 3 and now you kind of figured out that you need to learn how to protect yourself?? I was also happy with how she handled the oracle as well. She wasn’t offering her any favors for the return of her memory she was strong in the way she presented herself. Even to Grim she told him how it was “If Leansidhe wants to see her she needs to wait!” I also really enjoyed how sensitive Ash was being at the beginning understanding, helpful, loving. That’s a side that is not shown too often and when it is, it’s quickly taken away with a cold stare. Like I said in my other review for the Iron Daughter, I really like reading Leansidhe, with her now my pet and so on. Only she would turn Meghan’s father into a piano!

Matter of fact Meghan just was so much more likeable throughout the whole series. She stood up for herself no matter who it was. She was smart when she made any negotiation reading each word. I wish this Meghan was available in The Iron Daughter. She had so much confidence in herself that I couldn’t believe she had. Even though a lot of it was because of the Iron glamour she  kind of accepted it either way.  All the other side characters were great as well. Grim the ever knowing cat was always there to help and mysterious as ever. I mean he’s just so wise and always shows up when needed or sending help. Puck was so funny and heart breaking to read about. I mean you can tell he loves Meghan and yet he still stood aside and helped. I really enjoyed Mab as well. You really saw a different side. Not that she was emotional or sensitive but different side that appealed to me. I have always likes her don’t ask me why but I definitely like her 100x more than Titinia. I also wish Oberon was given a chance, I really like him but unfortunately there was no room for that in this book. I also thought Razor the gremlin was too funny and cute. He reminded me of Donnie from the Wildthornberry’s don’t ask me why but he did.

Now for the false king, I guessed who he could have been at the beginning of the book, but it still was a surprise since I wasn’t a 100% sure. The way she defeated him by sacrificing herself was definitely a ROSE type of move which I loved. Now the ending! I was hoping throughout the novel that there would be a way for Iron and Oldbloods to be able to live together, and I guess the author found the best solution she could. I knew Meghan was going to be queen. Now to the other part of the ending. Poor Ash, doomed to love. I really loved him in this book. I can’t believe they can’t be together. But now I will definitely be waiting for the The Iron Knight which I am sure will be an enjoyable read since Ash & Puck will be journeying together.
This book was definitely better than The Iron Daughter & King. It ended well and gave me enough interest to read the following book.

There were only two things I didn’t understand. So if you read the book leave me a comment if you can explain it. At the end when Meghan is trying to kill Ferrum. She says to him take the iron kin’s power and she fused it with Summer and that’s what killed him right? But I am confused because after he took it she still had the iron kings power and summer. I didn’t really understand how that was possible. So any explanations are much appreciated! Secondly Ironhorse and the rebels were against the False King because he didn’t really wield the power of the iron kingdom, but I still don’t get why they didn’t want him. I mean it’s not like what the false king was hurting them. He was trying to take the Nevernever and poison it with iron which really didn’t affect ironhorse or the rebels. I guess I just didn’t understand or think it was enough reason for them to fight against the The Iron King. But at least they helped in the war.

STARTED MY OWN WEDNESDAY MEME

It's Monday! What are you Reading? *4*

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week.  It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs,  and put new titles on your reading list. Hosted by Book Journey .

I haven't participated  this meme for while because I was reading the same book for weeks since I didn't have time to finish it.  So I'm back.

What I am Reading:
The Iron Queen: Julie Kagawa
Synopsis: Goodreads
My name is Meghan Chase.
I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. So far this book has started out strong. Meghan has more of appeal to her that I didn't see in The Iron Daughter. I hope this book delivers and only gets better!

What I am Reading:
The Vespertine: Saundra Mitchell
Synopsis: Goodreads
It’s the summer of 1889, and Amelia van den Broek is new to Baltimore and eager to take in all the pleasures the city has to offer. But her gaiety is interrupted by disturbing, dreamlike visions she has only at sunset—visions that offer glimpses of the future. Soon, friends and strangers alike call on Amelia to hear her prophecies. However, a forbidden romance with Nathaniel, an artist, threatens the new life Amelia is building in Baltimore. This enigmatic young man is keeping secrets of his own—still, Amelia finds herself irrepressibly drawn to him.
When one of her darkest visions comes to pass, Amelia’s world is thrown into chaos. And those around her begin to wonder if she’s not the seer of dark portents, but the cause.

Okay so I have had this book on my laptop for weeks, but have yet to get to it. I really wanted to read it but I usually don't like reading from my laptop because my eyes get tired so easily. I kind of pushed this book aside when I started reading the iron fey series, but I hope I don't get distracted with something else.

SO what are you guys reading this week?

The Iron Queen: Julie Kagawa
Synopsis: Goodreads
Pg: 212
"Both Ash and Puck blinked at me. "I'm fighting", I said in the firmest voice I could mange. "I don't want to hang back and watch everyone die for me. This is my war too"

OH what trouble did Meghan get into now??? This series is action packed all the time. There is no break ever! I haven't started this book yet. Hopefully I will in the next day or so. But this teaser I think is a perfect representation of this series. (action, hard decisions, courage, strength, and challenges). I am really looking forward to this book.

So what's your teaser for the week??

Would love to here your teaser!!

What I am Currently Reading:
The Iron Daughter: Julie Kagawa
Synopsis: Goodreads

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

So far this book is okay. Vampirebookclub.net rated this book one if the best books of 2010. I usually enjoy the books they rate and love their reviews. If I remember correctly they said this book was just as good as Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead who of course I love so that's why I originally started this series. But so far its been okay. I have been a little annoyed because I realized this whole series is a journey to somewhere for some reason. They will always be traveling between realms and Meghan will always almost get eaten. I guess I don't mind if one book is a series is like that but it's my favorite kind of plot for a whole series. For example Harry Potter: I feel like in Deathly Hallows Harry was on a quest you never knew what could happen because you were at the mercy of JK  Rowling, and that's what I feel this whole series is like. There is Order of the Phoenix where the main character stays in specific kind of place where the plot of the stories maintains. But the book isn't bad it's just not my preference. Anyways I am rambling on.
What I Plan on Reading:
The Iron Queen: Julie Kagawa
Synopsis: Goodreads

I hope this book gives a good series ending. I don't know what to expect since I haven't finished the iron daughter. but we will see what happens.
