Mockingjay: Suzanne Collins

I don't really care for the covers in this series!
My Review:
Okay so I have been left once again speechless after reading the last book in the hunger games. I am I don’t even know how to explain…… Okay let’s try from the beginning. I can’t believe district 13 was functioning so fervently. I mean all along they have survived I find that to be crazy.  If you have not read this book and don’t like spoilers don’t read anymore! BTW quick heads up I am writing this after I just finished reading it so my thoughts are jumbled up and there is no rhyme or reason probably more like a rant!
First off Katniss, man was she a traumatized mess in this book. Every other minute she was in the hospital on morphine. I totally understand why, with the way everything ended in book 2. The way they were torturing Peeta OMG, I felt so bad. It was unbearable to see the way he came back and how could barely function. Katniss being the Mockingjay wow. I loved her slogan if we burn you’ll burn with us! That was crazy. I did find the propros kind of annoying after a while and I thought it was bit ridiculous, but hey I guess it’s different world.

I did get one of my wishes, from reading Catching Fire.. I felt in catching fire Prim & Katniss’s relationship was missing there were no sister moments and I got all that in this book! I can’t believe Prim dies!!! I hated that part in the book.. My eyes started tearing up when she was telling Buttercup to go away because Prim was dead. Why did she have to die, I don’t think it was necessary! But I guess that was last straw that made Katniss choose to kill Coin instead of Snow. I wanted to slap the crap from Coin when he was asking them to vote on whether or not to have another Hunger Games. I was like you are kidding me write. Why did Finnick have to die after he finally was able to have his Annie!

One of my other wishes from Catching Fire was more Gale time. Unfortunately that wasn’t given to me the way I wanted. I hated how their relationship just kept going down the crap hole. I knew Katniss was going to end up with Peeta because it was spoiled to me a few months back but I didn’t expect it to happen like that. I really liked Gale from the start and thought they were perfect because they understood each other but I guess that wasn’t enough. I hated how their last conversation ended as well. Without them really knowing if it was his bomb that caused Prim’s death. I felt like they deserved more

Peeta, has grown on me little by little. I do think he’s great for Katniss. He takes care of her in a way no one else. He might not be the strongest and always on the brink of dying but he’s able to save Katniss in different ways. I liked the epilogue of their future together. I thought it was cute and at least ended in a more positive note.

Now my biggest complaint of this book is the plot. For some reason it sucked. I mean the first part of the book is Katniss deciding if she’s going to be the Mockingjay, second part them trying to figure out save Peeta and survive bomb, and last part trying to get to the capitol where Snow is and they don’t even really get there. The last part was the hardest to read. I was really dragging my feet because I didn’t feel there was much progress in the book. I didn’t like how this book was all about war it was sucky no other word. It could have been so much better. Especially on how well written THG & CF .. I was left aghast after CF and I felt cheated with Mockingjay. It just could have been done better. I don’t think it was an appropriate way to end the series. Katniss was pure kickass through books 1 &2 and then she falls completely apart in 3. I just feel like this type of book should have been either made better or should have been the second book in the series. That way the series could have a better ending! Let’s just say if THG & CF were written like this I wouldn’t have continued with the series. I don’t think I would read this book again but I would definitely read the first two in the series. This has been my least favorite.

Okay with all my complaint this book was still good even though there were lots of good people lost. It has an okay ending and let’s face it it’s a dystopian novel so not everything is packaged all pretty with bows and roses. This series has been an epic emotional adventure!

Favorite Quotes *6*

So I decided to feature my favorite quotes of Wither on my blog. As I read more books, I will also be adding any other favorite quotes I have with other books that I read. I just love the feeling of having certain quotes transporting me to a part in the Book! ** Some spoilers if you have not read the book!**
Since I just finished Catching Fire: Suzanne Collins 5 STARS, Here's my review!
  • "So it's you and a syringe against the Capitol? See, this is why no one lets you make the plans."
  • "You know, you could live a thousand lifetimes and not deserve him."
  • Really, the combination of the scabs and the ointment looks hideous. I can't help enjoying his distress. "Poor Finnick. Is this the first time in your life you haven't looked pretty?" I say."It must be. The sensation's completely new. How have you managed it all these years?" he asks."Just avoid mirrors. You'll forget about it," I say. "Not if I keep looking at you," he says."
  • "I always channel my emotions into my work. That way, I don't hurt anyone but myself."
  • "Gale is mine. I am his. Anything else is unthinkable.
  • "We had to save you because you're the mockingjay, Katniss," says Plutarch. "While you live, the revolution lives."
  • "I realize only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me."
  • "The bird, the pin, the song, the berries, the watch, the cracker, the dress that burst into flames. I am the mockingjay. The one that survived despite the Capitol's plans. The symbol of the rebellion."
  • "I'm so sorry," I whisper. I lean forward and kiss him. His eyelashes flutter and he looks at me through a haze of opiates. "Hey, Catnip." "Hey, Gale," I say. "Thought you'd be gone by now," He says. My choices are simple. I can die like a quarry in the woods or I can die here beside Gale. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to stay right here and cause all kinds of trouble."  "Me, too," Gale says. He just manages a smile before the drugs pull him back under."
  • "Technically, I am unarmed. But no one should ever underestimate the harm that fingernails can do. Especially if the target is unprepared."
  • "Katniss," Gale says softly. I recognize that voice. It's the same one he uses to approach wounded animals before he delivers a deathblow. I Instinctively raise my hand to block his words but he catches it and holds on tightly. Don't," I whisper. But Gale is not one to keep secrets from me.
Katniss, There is no District Twelve."

  • "I guess this is a bad time to mention I hung a dummy and painted Seneca Crane's name on it..."
  • "It must be very fragile, if a handful of berries can bring it down."
  • "That if desperate times call for desperate measures, then I'm free to act as desperately as I wish."
  • "I pull an arrow, whip the notch into place, and am about to let it fly when I'm stopped by the sight of Finnick kissing Peeta. And it's so bizarre, even for Finnick."
  • "I can only form one clear thought.  This is no place for a girl on fire."
  • "I don't care if you got knocked up. I can still rip your throat out"
  • "What about you?" "Not a clue. I keep wishing I could bake a cake or something."
  • "Fine. Somebody else can arrange to get the stupid goat knocked up."
  • "But Mockingjays were never a weapon," said Madge. "They’re just songbirds. Right? "Yeah, I guess so,” I said, But it’s not true. A mockingbird is just a songbird. A mockingjay is a creature the capitol never intended to exist. They hadn’t counted on the highly controlled jabberjay having the brains to adapt to the wiled, to thrive in a new form. They hadn’t anticipated its will to live." "What's going on down there, Katniss? Have they all joined hands? Taken a vow of nonviolence? Tossed the weapons in the sea in defiance of the Capitol?' Finnick asks.
  • "Remember, girl on fire,” he says, “I'm still betting on you."
  • "And to us, we're more married than any piece of paper or big party could make us."

Review: Catching Fire : Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire: Suzanne Collins
Synopsis: Goodreads
Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the annual competition described in Hunger Games, but the aftermath leaves these victors with no sense of triumph. Instead, they have become the poster boys for a rebellion that they never planned to lead. That new, unwanted status puts them in the bull's-eye for merciless revenge by The Capitol.

My Review:
OKAY!!!! I need to take a breath of fresh air because wow!!! OH WOW!!! Man this book was good. I couldn’t put it down seriously.. I think it took me 8 hours to read it’s that serious I started at 12:00am and took a break from the book at 6:00am to do something dumb like you know sleep lol….  Woke up like @ 10:00am and finished around 12:00pm…WOW WOW OMG that’s all I could say after I finished this book wow.

Okay where to begin on how wonderful this book was. I didn’t think Catching Fire would be as good as Hunger Games but man was I wrong. This book was so freaking suspenseful I was on the edge of my seat because I had no idea what to expect.. I was so nervous for Katniss throughout the whole book. I mean much more violent things happens but it’s done in a way that Im not put off from it but only makes the book better. I don’t know what to say because I don’t want to ruin the book! But I will state something spoilerish** at least I think so..  Okay I had a feeling they were going to throw Katniss back in the games. I just know how much she hated it and how the capitol knew that all to well. I had a feeling about Putlarch the guy with that mockingjay watch…

Omg and the uprisings is crazy! The way they turned district 12 all crazy with security that was so scary and how the book ended spoiler *** there is no district 12*** Wow is all I can say. I can’t even sum up my thoughts as I write this review because of the no sleep and the shock I have after reading this book. This probably is one of my worst written reviews ever but it’s that the book was do good im speechless.
Two things I felt the book was missing is Gale & Prim. Okay since book 1I have been a Gale fan, I wish he was more involved in this book since he only shared the beginning of the first book! That kiss was OMG!!! Man I wish they shared more than that one kiss! Now I know how much Katniss love her sister but I wish I would have seen them boding or something! But besides that I beyond happy with book, it was so good!

If you haven’t read the hunger games read it now it so good I can’t stress this enough!!!!

I liked the girl in the cover but the guy reminds of one of the goth kids from southpark. But t's pefect cover for the story!
My Review:
Okay to begin with I heard about this book in the summer way before I started blogging, and heard how absolutely wonderful it was and how it was a must read for everyone.. I read the description and I thought ehh not for me and the cover the guy reminded me of one of the goth kids from southpark.. But as I began blogging I kept seeing many people rate it very high, so I decided to add to my list of books to read and eventually borrowed it from the library. Now there were lots of things I didn’t like from this book and there some things I did like. I will begin with the bad…

As a reader you tend to notice things you like and dislike from books. For example I am a reader who enjoys minimal descriptions and more dialogue between characters. I love authors who are able to describe the room the characters are in or explain what the character is doing without dragging it on for like 5 pages. This was one of the major things I disliked in this book, this author described everything. To go down one hallway it took about 4 pages and literally nothing was happening; I mean no one was deterring the character from walking down the hallway nor was there a crazy accident, but yet it still took the character 4 pages to get down a hallway that drives me insane.. So to say the author was describing everything in no exaggeration. I mean don’t get me wrong there are people that love writing like that but I am not one of them. I tended to skip paragraphs because I knew I would not miss anything important. Actually towards the last 100 pages I would skim the pages and only read the dialogue because I was getting so frustrated. This book was 550 pages long…. It could have easily been a book of 300 pgs and been so much better..

Another pet peeve of mine when reading does not know what is going on. Okay I understand if you want mystery but come on the book is 550 pages and around page 400 and something now you kind of want to explain what is going on and still now make any sense. That is so frustrating. I mean weird stuff was going on throughout the whole book do you like Isabel told Varen. I mean there this one seen where he came to visit her in her room and there were a million and one interruptions between the parents brad, and this other crap and yet Isabel was still unable to tell Varen what the hell happened. There was like no dialogue between the main characters like at all. They would barely say what was going and Varen never even attempted to acknowledge something was going on when in actuality he knows almost everything. And I reach the end of the book and Varen is unable to explain to Isabel what is going on.. I must admit I was very frustrated. Another thing that was annoying all of sudden she recognizes that she is in love with him without him or her ever sharing their feelings to one another or even kissing. She barely knows him and really it’s just that he’s mysterious.

This book reminded me a lot if beautiful creatures by kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. Ethan was the popular boy that likes the strange outsider girl Lena. Although the books are very different I must admit that I at least like that Ethan & Lena talked to each other even though everyone else was keeping secrets from them and didn’t want them to know the truth. Okay now there were some good parts, but I must admit it’s hard to remember when I just vented some of my frustrations. I liked the storyline of cheerleader gets a project with goth kid and then she ends up liking him. I like that Isabel stood up for Varen when her doushbag of a BF started acting all stupid. Even though everything was falling apart for Isabel she still tried to carry on she didn’t go into a melodramatic depression where she just stayed in her room forever. I liked her new friend Gwen she was so funny, but I feel bad the Isabel seriously just used her in a sense and never kept in her in the loop. I like Varen as well he was a complex character. Things going on in his home life and I really wanted to get to know more about him but unfortunately since the main characters barely spoke I didn’t really get to know as much as Varen as I wanted.

The book ends in a kind of cliff hanger where Isabel will need to travel somewhere to find someone.. I honestly don’t think I will read the next book. I don’t care for the author’s style of writing and that to me is everything. I have a feeling enshadowed will be another almost 600 page book with many questions left unanswered or answers that don’t make much sense to me. When in doubt authors, please make answers simpler then not. It drives me crazy when I am given an explanation on something and I am still left like huh??

To be honest I think this book was good and I don’t think it was bad.. I just know it’s not for me. This book is for people that I think enjoyed Beautiful Creatures: Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl, , Fallen: Lauren Kate, Darklight: Lesley Livingston.. All these books have the same style of writing, very descriptive and leaving you with questions.. So please pick of this book if you really really enjoyed any of those books, as for me my journey with Kelly Creagh is over!

Just Wondering Wednesdays *5*

So to participate every week is pretty simple. Every Wednesday I will ask a question about something I am wondering about and all you have to do is answer and use the Mr. Linky I provide. Now if lets say your not really interested in my questions or are maybe wondering some other bookish things that you want to discuss, then your post can be about what your wondering about this week. Simple??

Since I have been unable to keep up with my meme im just going to do it when I have the time because I am focusing on school and my blog has been taking a back seat in my life recently.

So I was wondering what's the last book thta has left you in a book depression? (If you are unsure what that is read this awesome post about it from I's So Rather Be Reading!)

I would have to say Hourglass: Claudia Gray.. I finally finished that book after a couple of weeks. That should have been a sign it doesn't take me that long to read a book.. a couple of days tops. But I was not happy with the way that book was written and anytime I take so long with one book it makes me hesitant to read another.. I don't know I get the feeling that the next new book I read is going to be just as bad, so I kind of procrastinate from reading my next book, which trust me I know it's bad. I've been trying to begin reading Nevermore: Kelly Creagh and I keep telling myself oh let me start reading, and then I say oh no Ill just start it later, or tommorow.. I realized it's all Hourglass's fault it scared me in thinking i am just going to have to drag myself to finish any other book I read,

I would love to hear your thoughts on my question or if you guys have been wondering anything worth discussing?

Here we go!

Outside of books what is your Guilty Pleasure?
I am obsessed with TV!!! Especially anything that is a series, which includes buffy, friends, the office, smallville, true blood, ellen, jersey shore, real housewives of atlanta, chelsea lately, gossip girl and the list goes on and on!!! I couldn't live without cable!!
